The Friday Find: Red Planet

The Husband and I have a long list of shows that we want to watch. I doubt we'll ever get through it all, but we're enjoying trying. Right now, we are making our way through season 2 of the National Geographic Channel's Mars.

The show is a docudrama that mixes interviews with scientists, authors, and entrepreneurs with a fictionalized look at how we might live on the red planet. While the interviews are great, I'm really in it for the story. Humans are humans no matter where they live. This show sticks them on a harsh planet and shows what might happen. The writers have done a great job of not creating a future seen through rose-colored glasses. Stuff goes wrong and humans, particularly when motivated by money or emotional strife, act as they would on earth.

It's great stuff.

The second season has already aired in its entirety, but you can catch up on demand or watch online.

One word of caution... the theme song will get stuck in your head.
