What I Read This Week: November 11, 2018

The traveling production of Anastasia was at the Kennedy Center this week. Of course I went! I managed to not sing along during the production, but I had the movie soundtrack stuck in my head all week. The stage show is quite different from the movie (no Rasputin, no Bartok, more revolution), but I thought the production was well done. It preserved the essence of the film and fit in the best songs (even if they did find new homes in the story). It was a great way to relive some nostalgia.
  • Magazines
    • Cooking Light, November 2018 - Usually, I am all about the recipes in the the Thanksgiving issue. While I did like the focus on sides (cause sides are the best part), I more enjoyed the non-food stories. There was a great little piece looking at the difference between food allergies and food intolerances. I learned stuff! I also liked the piece that looked at little ways you can practice self-care through the holidays including giving yourself some solitude. Finally, as someone who loves dark chocolate and black coffee, I was all about the piece about harnessing the power of bitter.

    • I'm mere pages of away from finishing How Paris Became Paris. I love how it tells the story of the city through targeted readings of history.
