Pairings: Nibbles

Frances Mayes is an author you read when you want to travel but can't get on a plane. Her writing style is lyrical, painting incredible pictures that leave you breathing in the scenery and making plans for your next vacation. Under the Tuscan Sun is her memoir about restoring an abandoned villa in Italy. On top of the story, she shares recipes and encounters with characters she meets along the way. If Italy was not already on your travel wish list, it will be after you read this book.

You might take a look at this title and think, "She's definitely going to suggest pasta." Nope. This title screams for an epic cheese plate. A cheese plate with at least four varieties of cheese, a selection of thinly sliced meats, an abundance of crackers and slices of baguettes, grapes, and accompanying mustards and jams. Oh! And don't forget the extra nibbles like salted nuts and olives. This book needs a cheese plate, because cheese plates are perfect for eating on outdoor verandas while you enjoy a chilled glass of white wine and take in the view.
