Pairings: Heady

Kushiel's Dart is a potent novel. It's a mix of fantasy, palace intrigue, politics, romance, sex, and all-around good story-telling. This book has something in it for everyone and it's a compelling read that makes you forget just how long it is. (The paperback clocks in at over 900 pages.) The characters are full of hidden motives and the narrative shifts in ways that are both subtle and dramatic. Personal desires clash with political motives all driven by a cast of characters that feel completely developed and authentic. The plot is addictive and the prose sensual and smooth. This is a novel you'll want take your time enjoying.

A book full of flavor needs a cocktail to match. The bourbon bomber pairs well because of it's depth of flavor that shifts from sweet to earthy with a bit of tart too boot. It's a complex beverage that mixes classic fall spices with garnishes that elevate this above your usual cocktail. The sweetness makes the bomber easy drinking, but the headiness means you'll want to enjoy the flavors in sips.
