Pairings: Dwarf Planet

One of my favorite non-fiction books is Mike Brown's How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming. It's a remarkably funny story about how one astronomer discovered that Pluto, our former ninth planet, is not so special. Instead, it's one of many hundreds of objects of similar size in the Kuiper Belt. In this book, Brown mixes memoir with humor and science to expand our understand of astronomy and physics. It's a surprising mix of genres that works to create one phenomenal book.

A surprising book deserves a surprising dish. These cocktail meatballs only need three ingredients: meatballs, concord grape jelly, and thai chili sauce. On the face, you wouldn't think that those things would go together. But, let them heat up in a slow cooker for a few hours and... mmm... yummy! I make this dish every year for our holiday party and they are always a hit.
