Summary: [From BN] At last: the definitive origin story of Wonder Woman! The island of Themiscyra is a paradise. Far from man’s world, the Amazons live a life of physical, intellectual and emotional perfection…and isolation. For though they are blessed by the gods of Olympus, they can never know the world beyond their shores. Until an aircraft from another civilization crash lands on Amazonian soil, and changes their lives forever. Princess Diana has lived her entire life in her homeland’s blessed air. Her friends, her lovers, her mother are all here. But this glimpse of a world outside stirs a higher calling within her. An entire planet cries for help. A whole world needs her protection. And the very gods would see her fail. But Diana of Themiscyra is a woman of destiny. A woman of power. A woman of wonder….

Thoughts: This book might have been even better than the reset that occurred in volume one. It gets back to the beginning of Wonder Woman's story - how she leaves Themiscyra, obtains her tools, and enters our world. The story is not as funny as the movie, but it is a more realistic take on Diana entering life here - complete with inability to communicate. It also gives a great look at how Diana meets those who will be a part of her story, namely Steve, Etta, and the future Cheetah. As with the first book, the art is cinematic and dynamic. There is a motion and movement to the panels that really brings the story to life. Also, I still can't get Gal Gadot's voice out of my head when I read Wonder Woman's lines. That just might be a permanent fixture of this series for me.

Rating: 7/10 [Very Good]
