Pinned: Table Setting

As of late, my library pick-ups have consisted largely of hand-letting and calligraphy books. Every book seems to follow the same template - talk about tools, talk about tips, break down some fonts, and recommend a few step-by-step projects.

Most of the projects in these books are similar, but one book recommended using your new hand-lettering skills to create some DIY place mats. I thought they were utterly lovely and went to Pinterest to save a few ideas.

What I like most about this project (aside from it being charming and easy) is that it provides a focal point to each seat. Plus! You have a larger space to draw your letters than you would with a typical place card. Additionally, you could use a wide array of materials depending on your need. Craft paper works great for one-time events and plastic mats with sharpies would be awesome for something more permanent. You could even go beyond names and use this method to create food cards or menus.

I'm half tempted to throw a party just so I have a reason to try this out.
