What I'm Loving: Spring Cleaning

Yesterday, The Husband and I gave our apartment a very necessary spring cleaning. Since we've been in that transition time between seasons, we've had all our windows open 24/7. That meant that the notorious DC pollen has made it's way into our home leaving a fine layer of green on every surface. Now that the AC is on, we decided it was time to degreenify our space.

Every surface in our apartment was either dusted, wiped with all purpose cleaner, vacuumed, and/or mopped. That deep cleaning leaves us with that oh so satisfying feeling of seeing the dirt and pollen get sucked up or wiped away. (The there's the fun part of cleaning all the filters.) Since we live in a one-bedroom apartment, our cleaning session lasted all of an hour and half, but now we get to luxuriate in our clean home once again.

In the past, I have made my own green cleaners, but I couldn't get over the harsh vinegar scent it left in the air (even when I tried to mask it with lavender essential oil). This time around, we tried Mrs. Meyer's All Purpose cleaner in the lemon verbana scent. No more vinegar aroma! This product worked wonderfully and also left our apartment smelling fresh as opposed to antiseptic. As a bonus, the scent reminded me a few Airbnbs we've stayed in before. It's nice when a cleaning product reminds you of a vacation.

We also noticed that we were not the only people in the building giving our homes a deep clean. When we walked down the hallways, we could hear other vacuum cleaners going. It's nice to know we live in a place that fights the war on pollen together.
