Pinned: Pull Up A Stool

Itty Bitty Breakfast Nook Sitty
I eat most of my meals at home sitting on the couch. I should probably be ashamed of that fact, but it is what it is. The Husband and I have a perfectly good dining table, but we started this tradition of eating dinner while watching ABC News and Wheel of Fortune. We do use the table when we have friends and family over or for special occasions. Because of how irregularly we eat there, dining at the table feels special. It's even permanently set up with cloth napkins, place mats, and candles. Nothing screams, "Don't eat here!" than a group of things you're afraid to spill on.

What we lack is a casual eating space that doesn't have throw pillows or a remote within easy reach. We live in an apartment, so creating a casual dining space is harder than it looks. Options are slim when your space is to. Awhile back, I pinned this cute little dining counter because it looked like a feasible option for any sized apartment or condo. It doesn't take much to make this work - just a shelf with brackets and some stools. Bonus options include freshly baked scones and a pot of espresso to set the mood.

What I like most about this set up is that the small counter size discourages laptops or other serious work. Sure, you could read a book or do a crossword, but this is a zone for relaxing and watching the morning go by while the second pot of coffee brews.
