What I Read This Week: February 18, 2018

Guess what I did yesterday? I snorgled lots of adorable kitties! There's a cat cafe in Georgetown where you can spend some time with adoptable cats while socializing and enjoying coffee and macaroons. I went with two friends and it was the best way to spend part of my Saturday.

Also, The Husband and I listened to the most recent Gastropod podcast on pasta. It left us both craving bolognese. So, yeah. We made that. It was delish.

I wish all weeks ended with cute cats and great food.
  • Magazines
    • Cooking Light, March 2018 - One of the reasons I love this magazine is that it usually has one article a month that delves into a topic related to food and health. This month it was on oil. Oil is a necessity when cooking so it was great to read recommendations about what oils to use under what cooking conditions and for what foods. It's not all about extra virgin olive oil these days. This month's issue also had a brief piece recommending teas. I love a mug of warm tea so I added a few brands to my list of things to try. Finally, my favorite recipe section was all about sheet-pan dinners. I love a good one-pan meal.
    • Food Network, March 2018 - This issue was focused on international recipes. I am a fan of that. Besides pulling some recipes, this was pretty much a quick flip month for me.
  • Books
    • I'm making pretty good progress through Elena Ferrante's The Story of the Lost Child. I've been more into this book than I was the middle two books in the series.
