TITLE: Allegient
AUTHOR: Veronica Roth
STARTED: January 13, 2014

PAGES: 544
GENRE: Young Adult
FIRST SENTENCE: I pace in our cell in Erudite headquarters, her words echoing in my mind: My name will be Edith Prior, and there is much I am happy to forget.
SUMMARY: [From BN] The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she's known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.
But Tris's new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.
THOUGHTS: I've let my thoughts on this book ruminate for quite some time. Try as I might, I still find myself incredibly disappointed in the ending to this promising series. Simply put, there is not point to this book. None at all. It doesn't fit with the first two books in the series in any way. It's a tacked on ending. I didn't care about the characters. I didn't care about the plot. I didn't care about the structure of anything. There was just no point to reading this. After all the exciting build-up of the first two books, this was just nothing but blah.
The only positive to this book is how the role of one of the lead characters wraps up. I won't spoil, but it was surprising.
RATING: 4/10 [An "Okay" Book]
