This time next week, I will be recovering from read-a-thon (and possibly visiting my favorite vineyard's wine cellar - but that's another story). I'm excited to start piling up my books and selecting the nibbles I will eat. The pre-blogging... it starts Monday! I'd be lying if I didn't admit that part of my favorite parts of read-a-thon is the prep work.
Until then, here's an accounting of what I read this week.
Until then, here's an accounting of what I read this week.
- I read two rather thick articles for work...
- What Do We Do and Why Do We Do It - This piece talks about the future of libraries and the philosophy of our work. It was quite good and led me to think more deeply about what it means to be a librarian. I may draft up more complete thoughts later...
- I finally managed to get around to the 2010 Ithaka survey of library directions. It was full of data!
- In the magazine category...
- National Geographic, April 2013 - The cover story is about bringing back extinct species - it was both terrifying and incredibly interesting. I also enjoyed the stories about mammoth tusk hunters and manatees.
- Books
- I put another large dent in Infamous. If I continue at this pace, I will manage to finish this book before read-a-thon. Go me.
