FIRST SENTENCE: Everyone has someone on the Wall.

SUMMARY: [From Amazon.com] Twin bloggers Georgia and Shaun Mason and their colleague Buffy are thrilled when Sen. Peter Ryman, the first presidential candidate to come of age since social media saved the world from a virus that reanimates the dead, invites them to cover his campaign. Then an event is attacked by zombies, and Ryman's daughter is killed. As the bloggers wield the new found power of new media, they tangle with the CDC, a scheming vice presidential candidate, and mysterious conspirators who want more than the Oval Office.

THOUGHTS: Ack! This book was so good. I acquired Feed from Paperbackswap because The Boyfriend loves zombie books and this one received awesome reviews. He completed it in just a few days and quickly passed it on to me. Man am I glad he made sure I read this one. Grant has crafted quite the zombie novel. It's entertaining, thought provoking, and far deeper than your average thriller.

Feed is fast-paced, well written, and chock for of awesome lead characters and zombies. Grant crafted her novel around characters who are both believable and likable. Every character has their own strengths and flaws (like real people - woot!). The traits of the individual characters play off each other and the plot. The story also progresses in a manner that feels natural and well paced. Zombies are only added to the scenes when they were necessary, and not used as unnecessary cannon fodder and gory set pieces.

The post-zombie world feels lived in and real. Grant has taken the time to think out "just what could be" after zombies roam the planet. This is no slap-dash future, Grant talks about politics, daily life, and everything else that would change in the new reality. And it all makes sense. Nothing feels overdone or random. Each event and change in the novel happens because it should.

What works best about Feed is that it feels plausible. Sure, zombies are probably never going to walk the earth dropping decaying limbs in their path... but if they did, I could see humanity reacting as they did in this novel.

I want more of this series!
